Originally, I was a social worker/counselor and after ten years, I switched to teaching. I'm still a counselor among other things for my students but officially, I'm a teacher. Originally, many moons ago, I was in school for elementary education. I took a different path. It's funny how we end up on the same path after a detour!
It has been a great switch. I have been teaching since February 2006. I have already had many classroom experiences with different types of classes. I have taught children with emotional disturbances, children with moderate disabilities such as downs syndrome, autism and mental retardation, I have taught children with learning disabilities in a resource setting and an inclusive setting.
This year, I am happy to be in a Continuous Developmental Classroom, (CDC) with children, grades K-3 with mild disabilities. I am looking forward to a great year!
